Grip size guide
Find the size that fits your hands
Grip diameter changes how the club feels and how tightly you have to hold it. Here is how the four standard options compare.
Undersize
Smaller than a standard grip.
- Best for
- Best suited for golfers with smaller hands or golfers who simply prefer a thinner grip.
- Hand-size guide
- Less than about 6.5 inches from wrist crease to tip of middle finger.
- How it may feel
- A thinner grip may allow more hand and wrist action through the swing.
Standard
The most common golf grip size and the best starting point for many adult golfers.
- Best for
- A good fit for most adult golfers who are unsure where to start.
- Hand-size guide
- About 6.5 to 7.5 inches from wrist crease to tip of middle finger.
- How it may feel
- Often corresponds roughly to men’s Medium or Medium-Large glove sizes.
Midsize
Noticeably thicker than Standard.
- Best for
- Often preferred by golfers with larger hands, golfers who wear Large or XL gloves, or players who simply like a fuller grip.
- Hand-size guide
- About 7.5 to 9 inches from wrist crease to tip of middle finger.
- How it may feel
- A thicker grip can feel more comfortable and may reduce excessive hand action.
Jumbo
Much thicker than Standard.
- Best for
- Often chosen by golfers with very large hands or golfers who prefer maximum grip thickness.
- Hand-size guide
- Around 9 inches or more from wrist crease to tip of middle finger.
- How it may feel
- Jumbo grips may also be preferred by some golfers who want less hand and wrist movement or who find thicker grips more comfortable.
How to Measure
Measure from the crease at the base of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger. These measurements are only general starting points to help narrow down your choices.
Comfort comes first
Grip size is ultimately about comfort and personal preference. Hand measurements can help narrow down your choices, but golfers may prefer a different size based on feel and swing characteristics.
